LO4: Review of assets

 Final photos for main cover:

Strengths: The photo has good exposure, has good resolution, has a good angle, there is also a good use of contrasting colours blues greens and a mixture of greys.

Improvements: There is a slightly odd depth of field due to the angle and range of the camera though some could argue this is a positive, I feel that this retracts from the quality of the image slightly.

Strengths: The photo has good lighting, good exposure, and good resolution. There is a strong contrast between the dark shady branches from above and the white and the bright green of the snowdrops.

Improvements: The photo has an unusual DOF (depth of field) that some readers may find distracting.

Strengths: The photo has good resolution, good exposure. Good contrast of green and grey.
Improvements: Photo is slightly over exposed so could be difficult to view properly particularly because the image is only a cover image and therefore is smaller and harder to see.

Final Photos for Double Page Spread:

Strengths: Photo has good quality/resolution, has good lighting and has a good angle.

Improvements: Edit out the binocular part of the image or if not possible choose another of the set that is easier to edit/doesn't include the side of the binocular.

Final Photos for Contents Page:

Strengths: Good lighting/ good exposure, good contrast in colours, good resolution

Improvements: Reduce brightness/exposure slightly and potentially crop the image slightly as well so more of the moss is in the image.

Final Masthead:

Strengths: Large font allows for ease of access, and makes it more eye-catching and.

Improvements: Make the smaller part of the title ie., 'The Wild Insider' align with the top part of the abbreviated version to make it look more symmetrical and appear more even.

3 graphics and/or shapes:

Strengths: The black outline of both the graphic and the text box makes the interior of their shapes appear much more eye catching and separates it from the main cover image which being a similar colour of green to the stems of the snowdrops and the background of the text box would merge.

Improvements: In future choose a less similar colour pallet in order to create a better contrast and also to make different parts of the magazine stand out from each other.

Strengths: There is a good contrast of the house style theme with the white text of the page numbers contrasting against the black text box. The dark green underlining the white text also contrasts with the white of the page numbers. Both the text box and the dark green underlines also contrast with the lighter green and white/grey of the rock in the main cover image.

Improvements: Design the contents page in a way where the main part of text (page description) is in a larger font size so that it can be easier to read from a further distant way. Also possibly change the size different between the page numbers and the page descriptions so that there is both more space for the page description to fit so it looks less cramped, but also so that the page text can be made larger.

Strengths: The change in font type makes it stand out from the rest of the text on my double page spread and therefore the reader will notice it better. The graphic is similar/mirror image of what I have seen in example magazines and therefore I know it is to a professional standard.

Improvements: Make it slightly bigger so that it stands out more. Have more decisiveness about formatting the page so that it doesn't take as long to add important details such as this graphic.
